Remembering Marquard Bohm

Marquard Bohm was born on June 27, 1941 in Hamburg, Germany. He was the younger brother of actor and director Hark Bohm. Marquard was one of the most famous of the Young German Film actors and became known internationally through his work with Rainer Werner Fassbinder in such films as "The American Soldier" and "Wild Changes". Bohm also worked with his brother Hark as well as Wim Wenders, Rudolf Thome and Helmut Herbst. He spent the years 1986-2000 at the Schauspielhaus Bochum Theatre with director Frank-Patrick Steckel and Leander Haussmann playing a number of bizarre supporting character roles in productions by Jürgen Kruse and Frank Castorf. Bohm appeared in two Euo-westerns, "Deadlock" in 1970 and "Chetan, Indian Boy" (1976). Bohm died from a heart attack on February 3, 2006 in Wetter, Ruhr, Germany, after a long period of health problems. Today we remember Marquard Bohm on what would have been his 70th birthday.
