Happy 65th Birthday Maurizio de Angelis

Maurizio de Angelis was born on February 22, 1947 in Rocca di Papa, Italy. Maurizio is the younger brother of composer, musician, singer Guido de Angelis [1944- ]. The two brothers are musicians, and have composed and sung the music for many films, under the name Oliver Onions. They are most famous for their soundtracks to Terence Hill and Bud Spencer movies. They began their career playing guitar, then Maurizio graduated in composition and harmony, while Guido studied flute. So music became their profession: they toured Italy with a group called Black Stones, which was later called G & M. After 1967 they played in orchestras, recording soundtracks for famous soundtrack composers such as Ennio Morricone, Riz Ortolani, Armando Trovaioli and many others. Maurizio has composed a dozen Euro-western among them “Trinity is STILL My Name” (1971), “Zorro” (1975), “Keoma” (1976) and “A Man Called Blade” (1977). The brother have also made many musical arrangements for famous Italian singers. Though the songs were sung in English to increase international appeal, their accents often make the lyrics indecipherable to native speakers. In November 2007, they gave their first concert in 25 years at the Lucca Comics Festival. Today we celebrate Maurizio de Angelis’ 65th birthday.
