Who Are Those Guys? - Walter Bechmann


The actor Walter Bechmann was born as Hubert Freiherr von Mauchenheim on July 13, 1887 in Blankenburg, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. He was a very popular support actor from the middle of the 1930's and was very busy till the collapse of the Third Reich. His first films included "Ein idealer Gatte" (1935), "Togger" (1937), "Gewehr über", "Robert Koch, der Bekämpfer des Todes", "Kitty und die Weltkonferenz" and his only Euro-western “Wasser für Canitoga”  all 1939). During World War II he took part in propaganda movies as well as entertainment movies. His most well-known works for these years were "Jud Süss" (1940), "Quax der Bruchpilot", "Kora Terry" (both 1941), "Meine Frau Teresa”, "Rembrandt" (both 1942), "Romanze in Moll" (1943) and "Peter Voss, der Millionendieb" (1945). Bechmann appeared in only a few more movies after the war, among them were "Der Biberpelz" (1949) and "Die Spur führt nach Berlin" (1952). In all he appeared in over 70 films Walter died in West Berlin, Germany on May 3, 1967.
