Eurocrime Documentary to show in Atlanta March 30!

Eurocrime! The Italian Cop and Gangster Films That Ruled the '70s

Landmark Midtown Art Cinema

Eurocrime A documentary concerning the violent Italian 'poliziotteschi' cinematic movement of the 1970s which, at first glance, seem to be rip-offs of American crime films like DIRTY HARRY or THE GODFATHER, but which really address Italian issues like the Sicilian Mafia and red terrorism. Perhaps even more interesting than the films themselves were the rushed methods of production (stars performing their own stunts, stealing shots, no live sound) and the bleed-over between real-life crime and movie crime.

Starring Franco Nero, Henry Silva, Enzo G. Castellari, John Saxon, Luc Merenda, Fred Williamson, Leonard Mann, Antonio Sabato, Chris Mitchum, Nicoletta Machiavelli, John Steiner, Joe Dallesandro, Claudio Fragasso, Mario Caiano, Richard Harrison, John P. Dulaney, O Directed By Mike Malloy Written By Mike Malloy Produced By Mike Malloy, Mike Martinez, Manuel Prieto, Patrick Malloy, Kier-La Janisse, Eric Zaldivar

My friend Mike Malloy has been working on this documentary for many years now and it is finally being shown. I was able to see a copy that he sent to me before Christmas and it is as good as any documentary I''ve ever seen. Clips of films are inserted along with each actor's interview. Many of these actors were mainstays in the Euro-westerns of the 1960s and 1970s. If you live anywhere near Atlanta don't miss this event. - Tom Betts
