Happy 70th Birthday Gila von Weitershausen


Baroness Gila von Weitershausen was born on March 21, 1944 in Trebnitz, Lower Silesia, Germany. Born  into at aristocratic family, she has three brothers and two sisters and is the great- granddaughter of Georg Graf von Hertling (1843-1919).
 
Gila von Weitershausen became popular in the late 1960s when she appeared in German comedy films, alongside Uschi Glas. One of the films from that period was about the swinging sixties in Bavaria, “Engelchen oder Die Jungfrau von Bamberg”, which gave her the nickname ‘Little Angel’, and was used by the tabloid press for decades. She appeared several times as ‘Rowena’ in the British TV series “Arthur of the Britons”. One of her best performances so far has been in the film “Circle of Deceit” (1981), a film directed by Volker Schlöndorff, where she played opposite Hanna Schygulla and Bruno Ganz. Her lone Euro-western was as Frona Williams in the 1972 film “Cry of the Black Wolves”.
 
She was married to fellow actor Martin Lüttge (1966-1972) and had a relationship with movie director Louis Malle [1932-1995], who is the father of her son, Manuel Cuotemoc [1971- ]. Since 1994, she has been married to Hartmut Wahle .
 
Gil appears regularly in television movies to this day.
