Spaghetti Western Locations

We continue our search for film locations for “Texas Addio” (aka “The Avenger”).

After Burt and Jim escape the assassination attempt they return to the outskirts of the village and Burt buys horses while Jim runs into the waitress from the posada who sells him information on where the brothers can find Cisco Delgado. As they ride off the scene switches to the hacienda of Cisco Delgado.

Here we see three men about to be hanged. They are the sons of land owner Menendez who refuses to sell his land to Delgado. When the three sons are hanged Cisco shoots the ropes and the three drop to the ground still alive. They are then tied to the scaffolds and branded with Delgado’s branding iron. He asks Menendez if he wants his sons to die and is told it will be on Cisco’s head. Cisco hits the old ranchero with his pistol and then shoots him dead.

The location of Cisco Delgado’s hacienda is Nuevo Baztán and was used as the prison in “Return of the 7” which we covered a few months ago. Nuevo Baztán is 30 km southeast of Madrid. The hacienda is the rear and courtyard of Goyeneche Palace, Nuevo Baztán. This area was protected as a conservation area in 1941. This site has been used in quite a few Euro-westerns including ‘The Genius” with Terence Hill and “The Hills Run Red” with Thomas Hunter.
